His squadron had been amazing; they dealt with the immediate threat (i.e., the copious amounts of mordrem attacking them) and managed to get all of the injured, him included, to safety. He had received medical attention, but he was going to be out of commission for a while.
Rurik opted to stay where he was for the time being. Once he was cleared to return to the front lines, he wanted to be there. He did, however, send a pidgeon to those most important to him to update them on what was going on and to let them know he was fine. His handwriting was probably even more scratchy and messy than usual due to having to write with injuries, but he thought they'd be able to read it. Maybe.
The worst part about all of this was that he was bored. There wasn't much he could do while he was waiting for his body to recover. The priests could only do so much. He just happened to have been hit hard enough to land himself on bedrest for a while.
