Call Me Out: Library AU Edition~

Based off this post here, pick an idea to start a prompt and yell a muse name at me to start off with!

    1. i found you asleep in the stacks. we’re closed. please go home.
    2. i’m too short to reach the top shelf and too stubborn to get a stool. you watched me take a running leap for it before you offered to grab the book for me
    3. you reserved the book i wanted to check out first and i hate you for it
    4. no, i cannot help you find your textbook if you don’t know what it’s called. “it has a blue cover” doesn’t help
    5. you have rented and returned the entire buffy the vampire series [or some other series] in the span of 8 days. are you okay.
    6. you said that Shakespeare was dumb while checking out fight club and i am ready to Fight You
    7. you saw me dancing to my ipod while re-shelving books. please don’t judge me. or tell my boss.
    8. I’m always pulling books you reserved so I’ve started leaving little notes in them for you.
    9. WHY DID YOU ANNOTATE A LIBRARY BOOK IN PEN.
    10. someone left a comment card in the suggestions box that says “the reference librarian is super cute” and now all of the reference librarians are arguing over who it’s for
    11. i walked in on you and your boyfriend making out in the upper level and now [insert subject here] is ruined for me forever
    12. your study group ordered pizza to the library and you let me have some
    13. you brought your drunk friend to the library and then left them passed out in the play section. why would you do this.
    14. you keep watching baby animal videos on youtube without headphones on and i should yell all you but they’re really cute baby animals
Feel free to toss in any other ideas you might have!

[The library itself was situated between Hightown and Lowtown, but was still located within Lowtown itself. It wasn't particularly well-stocked, many of the books battered and worn with age or use or both.

[Aoba himself had taken up this job soon after his arrival, if only to help make ends meet between running about as a courier.

[In this library, he'd seen a peculiar elf coming in of late. One with a grumpy sort of countenance that made him wonder why he would seem in such a low mood. For a man, he was... attractive, in all honesty, but there was no way that he could tell him so. It was something that he'd keep silent on.

[What a superficial response. Quietly clicking his tongue, Aoba made his rounds again, putting away and organizing errant books. He hoped he'd come again. This time... maybe this time he could say more than just hello?]

[ And of course, just as usual the very same prickly looking elf entered the library. Hawke had decided to take Varic and the mage on some outlandish escapade to the mines, a mission that Fenris wanted nothing to do with. He was tired of walking through damp caves and fighting hordes of spiders only for the mage to light them on fire and leave the caverns smelling of burnt hair and roasted arachnids.

So yes, Fenris had returned. He rather liked the warm silence of the library and it was easy to find himself lost in learning more about reading from what he could. Even if he couldn't exactly learned much. Hawke had only taught him so much before the man had wandered off on some other venture. The man was flighty at best, a good man, simply too easily distracted. It was always fighting this, helping them. Templars, mages, slaves, and demons!

Life really was never dull with that group.

Only one more reason to seek the silence and solace of the library. No one who knew him came here, he could stare at the books for hours, trying to absorb all he could, in utter peace.

It was comforting. ]

[No one who knew him... except for the librarian. Seeing the other man come back in brought a smile to Aoba's face.

[Even so, he let him have some space before approaching.]

Hey, welcome back. Let me know if I can help you with anything, okay?

[Still holding onto some books near his chest, Aoba regarded Fenris with a patient, warm smile. He was careful not to use his "customer service" voice these days, as, well, the whole manipulation of the mind thing that pretty much no one but strong-willed folk could resist. So while it made him feel like he wasn't speaking politely enough, he knew it was for the best.]

I'll be at the service desk after I finish putting these away, so please don't hesitate to let me know if you need anything.

[Well, at least he managed that much. It wasn't that he was scared of the stranger - he just hoped that, well, maybe, they could... talk? Who knows. Maybe he was hoping for too much.]

[ Well okay, no one who he knew who knew him. Does that work?

Still he stops his attempt at reading when the young human passes by. His eyes narrow, more out of habit than anything else. Sorry Aoba he sort of has this nasty case of resting bitch face. It's just how he is. ]

Thank you, I will keep that in mind.

[The resting bitch face is ineffective. Aoba smiles brightly.]

You're welcome.

[He then leaves him alone to tend to the books, content as can be to do even such a mundane task. While he hopes Fenris interrupts him, he's just as contented to, well, do this, in the meantime.]
