Can I Ever say Sorry Enough (for
majestygate)
Previously!
[After learning the truth and, frankly, handling it very poorly Richard can't see he's happy to see a reminder of that day walking right up to his station. He's not stupid; he knows Kenny is using it as a chance to corner him and put him in a situation where he can't leave without looking bad in front of everyone else.
Which of course means he can do shit-all about it, but that doesn't mean he has to be entirely pleasant about it.
He scowls faintly but relents to the request and picks up a practice sword, holding it out to Kenny for him to take by the hilt.]

Actually, Richard can relate to that. Painfully so.
But a part of him is still upset and wished more than anything that Kenny had just been upfront from the beginning.
How long can he keep the anger up, though? He's just so tired... so emotionally drained from everything in his life.
A sigh leaves him and he steps back.]
Let me see your stance first.

[ Kenny bites back his usual lewd comment before laughing awkwardly. ]
Heh...right...sure.
[ He drops into a stance that is...it can't even really be called a stance. He's chocking the hilt of the sword and he's stiff all around. Sorry Richard but this guy doesn't know the first thing about actual sword fighting.
Ask him to sing you an opera and he's got it perfect...this...this he can't do. ]

Richard gives him a judging look, approaching slowly after a moment before promptly giving Kenny a shove that would easily send anyone in that "stance" off balance.]
Too stiff, everything is locked up. That is how you wind up with broken knees and arms. Your hold on the weapon is all wrong.

[ Honestly he's not even that good with a bow. But let's not talk about that.
He tries to relax, loosening up all around and even tries to shit his hold on his sword a bit. It's obviously not going to be perfect but he can only hope it's better. When he finally makes the changes he looks back at Richard and grins a bit. ]
Any better?

[No comment from Richard, but his expression betrays him for a brief moment. He noticed, Kenny. He noticed.
Gentler than might have been expected from this, Richard lightly tapped the scabbard of his sword against the back of Kenny's knees, getting a bit of proper resistance this time.]
Better.

He has to give Richard a smile, after all at least he's doing something right. ]
So what's next?
